What And Why
The West End Centre is a purpose built modern community centre based within St Oswald’s Church. Originally set up by the Church, the Centre is financially independent and distinct from it. The Centre serves all sections of the local community and welcomes people of different faiths, cultures and ability levels.
It is a not for profit organisation based in Little Horton, Bradford. The Centre opened in May 2005 and has developed provision in line with the needs and wants of the local community.
What We Do
We develop the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged local community of Little Horton and the City of Bradford in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet their needs and participate more fully in society.
We promote social 'inclusion' by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and helping them to integrate into society. This benefits the community, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious opinions.
Become a Volunteer
The Centre welcomes volunteers and provides placement opportunities.
Volunteers are central to the development and success of the West End Centre. Involved in every aspect of it, they help to decide what activities and opportunities are of interest to the community. Over half of our Management Committee members are also volunteers who are active in supporting the day to day running of activities and admin tasks.
The West End Centre needs to raise £150,000 per year to continue the fantastic services it offers.
